Results for the Birmingham Canal Canter – 19.8.17
Both the 26.2 and 18.6 mile courses started and finished from Moseley Rugby Club. The main course included the Stratford on Avon Canal, the Cole Valley Way, Grand Union Canal, Fazeley Canal, Wolverhampton Main Line and Birmingham Worcester Canal before returning to Moseley Rugby Club via the Stratford Canal. It passed Sarehole Mill (inspiration to Tolkien’s Middle Earth), under the dark bowels of Spaghetti Juction, Gas Street Basin, home of the International Convention Centre and award winning Brindley Place development. The 18 mile route again took in the Cole Valley Way passing Sarehole Mill, the the Grand Union Canal, Fazeley Canal, Birmingham Worcester Canal and returns to the Rugby Club via the Stratford on Avon Canal. Both routes involved crossing very few roads, no stiles and probably the least ascent and descent runners will do this year!!
The times included stopping at well stocked food check points (5 for the 26 miles and 3 for the 18 miles). Read Daniel’s Race Report here.

Results for the Race the Train – 19.8.17
Race the Train takes place alongside (as far as practicable) the route taken by the Talyllyn Railway on its journey to Abergynolwyn and back. In order to do this the course is a mixture of public roads, lanes, un-metalled roads, tracks, agricultural land, and rough grazing pastures. The terrain varies all the time and can be very wet & muddy in places, the routes also ascend and descend quite steep terrain and runs on narrow footpaths with little chance of overtaking. This race had four distances, 14 miles, 10k, 5.5 miles and 3.5 miles.
Sam took part in the Quarry Challenge (10k) the train time was 00:55:00.
