Men’s Report – Ross Cooper

Well done to the 18 men who ran in Midlands Autumn Relays at Sutton Park on Saturday. Massey entered 3 teams this year, 2 in the senior men’s and 1 in the Masters competition, with Massey ‘A’ finishing a respectable 56th out of 101 competitive teams from clubs across the Midlands, including well ahead of local rivals Northbrook and Sphinx, and a number of other teams we will face in the Birmingham League this season.

It was great to be able to get 3 complete teams this year, with no-one needing to run an extra leg due to drop outs! It was also great to welcome a couple of debutants in this competition for Massey Ferguson, well done Matt Seabourne and Michael Hammond. The ladies also had 3 teams running, so 30 Massey runners took part on the day, with 6 runners around the course for most of the afternoon. We welcome all members to come and have a go and participate in club races over the next few months, we will be entering a variety of events throughout the winter so please keep an eye on emails and Facebook for details, or contact me direct for more information. Most importantly, we want to try and get record turnouts for the Birmingham League in our 40th Anniversary year, so please get involved and help us get “40 for 40”.

Ladies Report – Nicky Chambers

Again we had 3 teams running this year made up of 12 ladies. As usual there was the last minute changes due to horrendous parking and traffic issues, with a couple of ladies only just making the event.

All teams did an excellent job with Team A coming in with a combined time of 1:24:07 and placed 68 out of 102 teams.  All ladies deserve a massive well done on fantastic running as always and a great team effort by all.

A big thank you to Jackie Schofield who organised the transport and erection of Gazebo, collection of race numbers plus running herself.  Also not forgetting Wendy Foxall (also a runner), Sara Slevin and Helen Rowe who then helped manage the reshuffling of team legs and ensuring all runners had relevant race numbers and the great support on course.

Last but not least, thank you to all the ladies who brought supplies of tea, coffee and of course CAKE and ALCOHOL!

Please look out for further emails that will be sent very soon for future events. All members welcome and encouraged to take part. A great way of improving your running as well as having fun at the same time.
