Ilmington 10k – 24.10.21

Race report by David Phillips.

Well the new Tempo Events Winter Series has started so just 4 more to go over the next 4 months. 281 turned up on this cold and windy day to do the anti-clockwise route and what a killer it is for the first 4k. Mostly all vertically uphill until the top which is the highest point in Warwickshire where many other counties can be seen if you look round for 360 degrees.

Some of us started 20 minutes earlier than the main bunch which was a great idea as it meant that we were not alone for the whole course!

Then from the top it’s flat and downhill back to Ilmington at 6k and many runners zoomed past me to the bottom.

Then the course flattens out for a bit until the 8k mark when most of it is uphill back to the finish but not as steep as the start.

Then as usual at the sports pavilion everyone had a packet of local sausages for finishing (eating them for tonight’s dinner) and there were plenty of goodies on sale to eat.

So well done again Rob and Sarah of Tempo Events and see you for race 2 on 21/11/21.

Good training for next week’s Cov Half of which I’ve done every one so here goes again –maybe.
