Race report by Dave Phillips.
A good turnout from local clubs (Kenilworth and Northbrook) but the volume of Red and Whites eclipsed their combined totals. So nothing new there then.
Sneyd is the sort of place you would probably never come to, or have been to, unless it was for a sporting activity. Why? Well it’s near Bloxwich and Walsall and the M6 seems to go through, round and in it.
Despite this the HQ at the Community Centre was huge with all facilities and parking was no problem. Sneyd Striders put on a great double event so well done to all of them.
The course was on roads and footpaths but in spite of the large numbers running, the traffic was no real problem. Just the noise of the M6 and some guns at the local pheasant shoot broke the silence of the somewhat boring course-especially on lonely lap 2.
The encouragement from the marshals was great throughout especially when they kept telling me that I “was doing great mate”.
And again what a Massey reception at the 10 mile mark from the bunch with the flag waving the finishers in.
Good mementos with a slate plaque, Xmas pud (about to be eaten) and the usual fruit and biscuits.
Just looked back at the records on 12/12/93 and I did the 10 in 76 mins and also got an Xmas pud then.
Keep it up Sneyd-well done.
