On Saturday 14 December 2024 a team of 7 ladies braved the cold for the Warwickshire Cross Country Championships at Solihull Riding School.
The weather was dry but cold and the course conditions were good. The fairly flat 3 lap course went around the fields and through the woods with a couple of sharp up and downs. Quite a few patches of sticky mud but much to the relief of a few of the team, a last minute course alteration avoided the water crossings as these were deemed to be too deep after all the recent wet weather.
Zoe Moore set off at a rapid pace and held firm all through to finish strongly as our first counter, closely followed by Sue Leonard as second counter and Joy Woolass third. Our only senior runner Niamh Ling was our fourth finisher, closely followed by Joanna, Emma and Alison who all ran strongly throughout the race.
Following such fantastic performances from all members of the team, we finished in bronze position in the master race, narrowly missing out on silver.
Special thanks to our Massey marshals, Helen, Kevin and Mark who gave up their Saturday afternoon and cheered us on from the course and also to Chris, Ab and Ben for their support and encouragement.
