This race is the third race in the WRRL and was an accurately measured 5-mile course, mostly flat on unsealed paths, at Ryton Pools near Leamington Spa just off the A445. 40 Massey Runners took part in the hot sunshine and dust !!

Results for the Rock n Roll Liverpool Marathon & Half Marathon – 28.5.17

MFRC had another good showing at the Liverpool Rock n Roll Event, with 10 runners in the half and 9 running the full. The race started at the Albert Dock on Liverpool’s Waterfront before heading towards The Cavern Club and a jaunt down Penny Lane. The full marathon included a run around Goodison Park, home stadium of Everton FC, through Stanley Park and past Anfield home to Liverpool FC then returned to the city. Both routes ran through Chinatown and Princes Park, Sefton Park and Otterspool Park culminating in a finish on the Waterfront promenade alongside the Liverpool Echo Arena.  Read Daniel’s Race Report here; and read Dave Phillip’s Race Report here

Results for the Edinburgh Marathon & Half Marathon – 28.5.17

The Edinburgh Marathon & Half started in London and Regent Road before passing by the historic Holyrood Palace, home to Scottish kings and queens. It then ran through Holyrood Park in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat, an extinct volcano. It passed by Meadowbank Sports Stadium, scene of former Commonwealth Games. The route then turned north, along Lochend Road and Leith Links before reaching Portobello Promenade for some seaside air. The route then stretches along Musselburgh Road before reaching Musselburgh Racecourse. After the Prestongrange Mining Museum the Half-Marathon loops back past Musselburgh Links towards the finish at Pinkie St Peter’s Primary School.

The full route went on to Prestonpans, passing Cockenzie and Port Seton and then carried on to East Lothian, along Scotland’s golf coast which boasts 22 courses including some of the world’s oldest and most admired like North Berwick, Gullane and Muirfield. The full route reached the village of Longniddry before reaching Gosford House, looping around and heading back past Musselburgh Links, recognised as the oldest golf course in the world. The marathon also finished in playing fields at Pinkie St Peter’s Primary School.

Results for the Casterbridge Half Marathon – 28.5.17

This inaugural Dorset race included the Casterbridge Half and the Dorchester Marathon. The Half route took in the beautiful Puddletown Forest, starting with a quick leg through Dorchester to get out passing Kingston Maurward before travelling through the forest where it then joined the Marathon route to finish the course through scenic Tolpuddle and Waterston. Mostly undulating but great views of the Dorset countryside.
