Results for the Sudeley Castle Trail 7k – 17.6.17

This race was back for the 2nd year in the Cotswold Hills, with 3 race distances (24km, 17km & 7km).  Leaving from the grand Sudeley Castle in the heart of the Cotswold Hills and set in 1200 acres of estate land, sitting nicely down in the bottom of a valley, the only way is up. The route was a technical single track, wooded trails and some locally famous national routes on the Cotswold Way, Gloucestershire Way and the Winchcombe Way.  Sudeley is the only privately owned castle in England to have a queen buried in the garden – Katherine Parr, 6th wife of Henry VIII.

Results for the Cheltenham Challenge Trail Half-marathon – 18.6.17

The Cheltenham Challenge, was a multi-terrain event offering 5k, 10k and Half Marathon distances using public footpaths and sections of the Cheltenham Circular Footpath, Cotswold Way and Winchcombe Way.  The terrain started fairly level for the first 3 miles, passing through Prestbury village and heading towards Hewletts Reservoir. Then there was a long tough climb up to join the Cotswold Way and Winchcombe Way before heading north across the top of Cleeve Hill, passing over the highest point in the Cotswolds.  The route then re-joined the Cotswold Way near the golf course, looping southwards along the edge of the escarpment before descending through a forest towards Southam. There is then a fairly flat run through farmland and Prestbury Village before heading back to the finish line at the racecourse.
