Results for the Heart of England Forest Marathon – 1.10.16
Competitors could run or walk 26.2 or 17 miles starting in Henley in Arden. The route passed through the village of Ullenhall and then Coughton Court. The main course continued through the town of Alcester around Oversley Wood before arriving at Aston Cantlow, where it rejoined the shorter route. Included in the entry fee was the unique chance to have two native trees planted in the “Heart of England Forest”.

Results for the Chester Marathon – 2.10.16
Runners left the racecourse and headed into the City centre passing the Town Hall, Cathedral, split level Middle Ages “Rows”, Eastgate Clock, Amphitheatre and through the Roman Walls before heading out of the City across the Old Dee Bridge. The route then left Chester past the Duke of Westminster’s estate, through Pulford, before crossing the border into Wales and the villages of Lavister and Rossett and then entered the historic village of Holt. Runners then crossed the ancient Roman Bridge at Farndon to return to England and the home stretch running through Churton, Aldford and Huntington. On re-entering the City, runners passed the River Dee along the Groves and Castle Drive before the finish back at the racecourse!

Results for the Cardiff Half-marathon – 2.10.16
The race started outside Cardiff Castle and runners then headed down past Cardiff City Stadium on the way to Penarth. The route took in the glorious Penarth Marina before crossing the barrage and heading to Cardiff Bay. Runners ran right through the heart of the bay taking in the Norwegian Church and Wales Millennium Centre. The course then headed towards the north of the city and runners completed a loop of Roath Park Lake before the grandstand finish in the heart of the city at the Civic Centre.

Results for the Bournemouth Half-marathon – 2.10.16
Kelvin and new member Lisa travelled south to take part in this race. The Bournemouth half marathon route followed the full marathon route, starting in Kings Park before making it’s way down onto the seafront. Runners took in the beautiful coastal views with the mile 6 point mid-way between Poole Harbour and Hurst Spit. The route then turned west and at around mile 8, runners ran along Boscombe Pier, first constructed in 1856. The course then went past Lower Gardens at mile 10 before the final home stretch along the coastal seafront past Bournemouth Pier and a grandstand finish in Lower Gardens.

Results for the Great Cumbrian Run – 2.10.16
This Half-Marathon is located through the historic border city of Carlisle. In its 34th year, the Half Marathon started from the magnificent Carlisle Castle, crossing Castle Way and heading through Carlisle city centre before heading out into the countryside and through the picturesque villages of Cumwhinton, Wetheral and Scotby, finishing in the Sheemount Stadium.

Results for the Rugby 10 – 2.10.16
The final race of the WRRL hosted by Rugby & Northampton AC was based at Barby Cricket Club near Rugby. The course is entirely on public roads, starting in Barby, passing through Kilsby, Hillmorton, Barby, Kilsby and returning to Barby. The last mile is the same as the first mile but is run in the opposite direction. The course was undulating and includes ‘Cart Hill’ after 6 miles, this was part of the famous former Rugby Marathon Course. Well done to Vir who won 3rd placed female.

The Leafy 10k is a multi-terrain race starting at Rowheath Pavilion. It was a two lap, multi terrain race around the streets and parks of Bournville in Birmingham.

Results for the Shelton Striders 10k – 2.10.16
This race is located in Alvaston (Derby) and started on the old canal path before heading round Sinfin Avenue and onto Merrill Way, then down Wilmore Road to Sinfin and then returned to Shelton Lock via Sinfin Moor Lane and the old canal path and finishing near to the Community Centre. The course is fast and flat and offered runners a good PB opportunity.
