Race report by David Phillips.
Well here we go again with the 1st of the 5 10k series runs over the next 5 months. Possibly the hardest 10k there is because of the early climb to the highest point in Warwickshire.
This race was in the anti-clockwise direction with a long uphill 3k+ drag to the top where normally you can normally see all the counties surrounding Warwickshire but yesterday with rain, clouds and mist nothing was visible-except the road!
It was a real tough and hard slow drag to the top (where many runners WALK) and then at least it was flat and downhill for a couple of Ks and at least the rain had stopped and it was sort of dryish.
The good news was that the downhill 2k made life easier and then we were back in the village again where there were houses and people (none on the top or the way up part of the course).
It is a really nice village jog with flat roads for a while as we ran round all parts of the village until another slowish uphill section started at 7k until we hit the flat again at 8k.
Then finally it was through the centre of the village again until the last uphill bit to the finish in the sports field.
So a really tough event and next time it will be clockwise which means a slightly shorter hill from the start to the top but this is almost vertical! Ughhh.
Then as usual at the end all finishers received a pack of sausages and in the pavilion tea, coffee and cakes on sale as usual.
There were 8 Massey runners which is the most I can remember so come on everyone book in now for the rest of the series.
Again well done Sarah and Rob from Tempo Events for continuing your great work. See you again soon.
Next in the series is 20/11/22 so book in now at Tempo Events.
