Running since
“I started running in 2019. I was feeling a bit unfit and stressed so just set a goal to run around the block . I soon had a friend join me . We then saw the racefit course advertised at Masseys and had to give it a go.”
Massey Runner since
“I started Masseys on the 2019 racefit course and did my first Easter 10k as part of the racefit course. I soon became part of the Massey family and haven’t looked back since.“
Best thing about Massey Runners
“Massey is so inclusive . It’s a running club that encourages its members and supports them in what ever their goals are. You are part of the family as soon as you join.”
Favoured distance
“10k and half marathons are my favourite . I also love pacing at events too.”
Favourite parkrun event
“Severn Bridge. You get to run in England and Wales at the same parkrun and you get to go on a bridge!“
Favourite terrain
“I do love a bit of cross country ! Nothing like a bit of mud and a cake reward at the end.“
Toughest running challenge
“Running Coventry way solo has been my biggest challenge . This is a 40 mile challenge around the City. I ran this in 2024 and most of the route was ankle deep in mud.”
Pre-race ritual
“I get my kit ready . I make sure I have pins from my previous races to give me good luck for the race. I also get to the race early so I can get it at least three toilet visits ! Extra socks are a must ! Especially in winter.”
Running year ahead
“This year I am proud to join the Nerve Tumour Uk London Marathon 2025. It’s my first London Marathon so am really excited . There is also the Hilly 100 and then getting a few of the road race leagues in . I’ve tempted to get a tempo series done too.”
Best piece of running advice received
“My best piece of advice is to run happy. My best races have been in the races I’ve got a smile on my face. Also , you get out what you put in. Train to your best and you will be rewarded.”
What was your most memorable run?
“This would be Manchester Marathon. I had signed up to Manchester Marathon then a few months later broke my foot. I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis and thought my running journey was over. I put a lot of working into my recovery and focussed on my strength work. I came back stronger than before and smashed my running target and completed the marathon in just under 4 hours. I wasn’t even expecting to get a sub 4 so I was so proud . I have learned to appreciate every run.“
