Ladies’ Sutton Park Relays – March 2025

The MCAA Midland Counties Womenโ€™s 6 Stage Road Relays took part on Saturday 29th March on what started as a frosty morning โ„๏ธ.

It was an early start for 8 members as they started the day by warming up the legs on the Sutton Park parkrun ๐ŸŒณ. After that Alison, Helen & Sally graciously put on the Hi-Viz jackets to become much needed Marshals at the dayโ€™s event. ๐Ÿฆธย  Thank-you ladies, as without people like you, these events would not be possible ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป. With a bit of help from the Mens Captain Dave, the gazebo went up!! ๐ŸŽช Thanks Dave!!

Then the rest of the ladies arrived at Sutton Park and the sun came out! ๐ŸŒค๏ธ. Some of the team were warming up, some were in the toilet queue ๐Ÿšพ and some were having a little snooze in the car! ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿš—

– At 12:00 the men set off and 12:10pm the ladies race started and off went Joy for the A team and Laura for the B team. Both ladies ran well, in fact Joy put in a fantastic run and even managed a 5K PB ๐ŸŽ‰ finishing in a time of 22:51.

– Sue went off next for the A team (leg 2) and in came Laura for the B team, handing over to Alison. Meanwhile Daniel stepped in to takeover Alisonโ€™s Marshall point. Sue ran brilliantly on her leg holding her teams position and completing her run in 23:58.

– Next back was Alison who not only managed to overtake a few ladies on route but then went straight back off to continue marshalling again ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป.

– Niamh took over from Sue (A team) and made her debut appearance at this event along with Claire who also ran a great time for the B team. Well done ladies ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

– Next out was Zoe (A team), then Lynnie for the B team, both running well and both overtaking a few ladies out on the course improving the overall position of the teams.

– Then it was Soniaโ€™s turn for the A team and Rachaelโ€™s turn for the B team. Both ladies gave a strong performance and did their teams proud ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

– Last but not least was Mary who headed off to complete the 6th leg of A team and also ran superbly finishing in a time of 25:12 meaning that the ladies A team finished 43rd out of 66 complete teams.

1 team was disqualified and 11 other ladies teams were incomplete. Unfortunately our B team was missing one runner so they didnโ€™t qualify for the overall team results, but they all ran steady, strong and consistent times. With everyone of them overtaking other ladies on their leg. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

It was a great team effort from the Red and Whites today, there were some who stood around all day in the cold marshalling, some cheering and supporting others, some helping with numbers and pins, some making drinks and others who helped with the gazebo and tidied up at the end.

Thanks to everyone who brought and made cakes too! There was too many to taste them all, and they all looked delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹
