The Hardwick Hobble

The Hardwick Hobble is a moderately hilly trail race with a twist. Organised by Rasselbock Running, it’s a course that you can run again and again and again!

Held at Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire participants run the roughly 5.5km course as many times as they want to with a 6 hour cut off. Runners can therefore do everything from a park run distance to an Ultra Marathon.

It was a beautiful autumn morning when I arrived at Hardwick Hall determined to do at least a half marathon and maybe more. The course was very ‘traily’ with plenty of rocks, tree roots and rabbit holes to negotiate.

At the end of each lap we had access to a fully stocked aid station with loads of food, snacks and drinks. Before l started my next lap my race bib number was scanned and once I had had enough (5 laps) l rang the school bell and received my medal.

The course was well marked and marshalls (dressed in the inflatable costumes) were very encouraging. Portaloos and free parking were provided.

Rasselbock Running (a very friendly bunch of people) organise a number of these events each year at different locations and at £41.50 not badly priced. Check out their website.
