The was the 15th running of the annual Stratford Summer Six, which is an undulating six-mile evening road race, starting and finishing at Mary Arden’s Farm in Wilmcote, Warwickshire, by kind permission of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.

Results for the Birmingham Canal Canter – 11.8.19
Both the 26.2 and 18.6 mile courses started and finished from Moseley Rugby Club. The main course included the Stratford on Avon Canal, the Cole Valley Way, Grand Union Canal, Fazeley Canal, Wolverhampton Main Line and Birmingham Worcester Canal before returning to Moseley Rugby Club via the Stratford Canal. It passed Sarehole Mill (inspiration to Tolkien’s Middle Earth), under the dark bowels of “Spaghetti Juction, Gas Street Basin, home of the International Convention Centre and award winning Brindley Place development. The 18 mile route again took in the Cole Valley Way passing Sarehole Mill, the the Grand Union Canal, Fazeley Canal, Birmingham Worcester Canal and returns to the Rugby Club via the Stratford on Avon Canal. Both routes involved crossing very few roads, no stiles, but lots of food !!

Results for the Rock n Roll Dublin Half Marathon – 11.8.19
This race started at Fitzwilliam Square East and finished at Chesterfield Avenue in Phoenix Park, the route went past some of Dublin’s most famous landmarks like St Stephen’s Green, Christ Church Cathedral and the famous Guinness Brewery. Well done to Delroy who was the 2-hr pacer4.

The race started in the Sconce Park, site of civil war battles, past the Ice Age Journey dig, where our ancestors settled over 13,000 years ago, went around East Stoke, site of the bloodiest civil battle through Elston, birth place of the Darwin family and then back to the Sconce Park.
