Results for the Aphrodite 5k, Cyprus – 22.11.15
This race was held in Paphos, the legendary birthplace of goddess Aphrodite. The 5k route took runners towards the luna park roundabout and back towards the sea front with a finish at the Yeroskipou Sports Centre. The race report below is from Dominic Lenehan.
“Did my first proper run for 5 months this morning. It was the Aphrodite half marathon and 5k today. The half was won easily by a minute by a ‘ young’ Russian in 1.17…..As you may know previous years I have done the half but had to settle for the 5k this year; though it did feel more like a half marathon !
I was struggling to breath even, as lost loads of fitness whilst ‘ recovering’ ; my other excuse was it was 27degs which didn’t help me. I came in at 25.26 which is best I could expect. So a long long way to go to get back fitness, Julie got around in 37.45.
We will certainly feel the cold when we return”.
