Knighton 20 miler – 11.3.18

Race report by Dave Phillips.

This was formerly the Stafford 20 which I used to do in around 2hrs 30 way back then. But it’s now been moved to Knighton near Lilleshall where we do the XC league races. It’s a really lovely village with the sports and social club as the HQ.

Around 400 runners took part in what was my 1st ever 3 lapper. Beautiful countryside but it was undulating with one hilly long drag a mile long. So multiply that lot by 3 and you’ll realise that it was a toughie.

So lap 1 was OK ish as there were some runners with me (most just in front). Lap 2 was busy as I was being lapped by loads of runners doing their final lap. Lap 3-yes you’ve guessed it-was very lonely and I only saw 4 other runners (runners??-well you know what I mean).

So we all plodded on and I did manage not to be last (3rd from last actually).

Who cares said the chap just behind me. We did the same distance as the winner! Yes I said and we had more value for money being out there longer.

Nice green Tech T shirt for all runners plus showers and in the bar afterwards I saw a bit of the Wales v Italy rugger match with my cider and crisps.

So a good day spent in new territory. See you all there next year.

Massey time:

Alan McDougall – TBC

Dave Phillips –  4hrs 36 mins (10th run of the year).
