Race Report by Michael Hammond
I have never been to Long Marston air field before. It is an impressive site , with the remnants of previously better days evident in the old advertising hoardings, wooden seating , and ancient planes (sadly neglected) on display.
As I parked up ,I saw Kelvin Elliot ,and walked with him to the registration point. It was pretty cold and raining but not too heavily.
It was an historical event because this was the last race to be staged at this venue. The site being sold for redevelopment.
There were a few more Massey contingents and we all walked to the start together; the full Marathon runners starting first before the half, then the 10k and 5k runners
As it wasn’t a road race , headphones were allowed. At 4k I decided to take off one of my three layers, and see if I could get the music on my iPhone to work; It did, and it helped me relax for the rest of the race.
I didn’t get a PB, but I was pleased I got round unscathed ,and very pleased to get a banana at the end along with my medal
