Massey Ferguson Runners Club is sad to announce the passing of John Aylmer, after a long illness.
John joined Masseys in 1986, and was made a Life Member of MFRC in 2001.
During this time his list of running achievements included 64 marathons, most notably London Marathon dressed as Big Ben for charity, a marathon best of 2 hours 48 minutes, and several overseas marathons including Chicago and Auckland.

John also completed the gruelling Comrades Marathon in South Africa – a distance of 55 miles – all within 12 hours.
In red and white, John was a Massey stalwart –
He ran 61 times for Masseys at the Birmingham Cross Country League between 1990 and 2011.
He was our official time keeper at Birmingham Cross Country League and Midland Women’s Cross Country League fixtures.
He was our Club statistician and tabulated our Club Road Race League each year.
John and his wife, Anne, were a great asset to the Club, particularly with their time-keeping at our athletic matches, and club road races and handicaps.
John will be sadly missed and Massey Runners will always be grateful for the times he and Anne shared with us. Rest in Peace, John – a true Massey legend.
John’s funeral will be held on Thursday 6 November at 12 noon at Cannon Hill Chapel, Canley Crematorium, Coventry, CV4 7 DF.
There will be a reception afterwards at the Jaguar Cars Sports and Social Club, Fenton Road, Allesley, Coventry, CV5 9PS.
Let’s have a good Massey Ferguson Runners turnout to remember John as a great runner and all the work he did for our Club.
