Ali Virgo took part in this event which started from the Scarborough Spa Complex, and headed onto South Bay foreshore, Sandside, Marine Drive and around the Castle Headland. The route then continued to the Peasholm Gap roundabout and then through Northstead Manor Gardens (past the miniature railway station), through the new open air theatre and out onto the North Bay promenade and finishing at the Sealife Centre.
“Having had a whirlwind time house hunting in the frozen north I knew a PB wasn’t likely so just ran to enjoy it. The weather was fantastic as always (lucky, or what?), the people supportive and running by the sea on the out and back course, despite an ‘onshore breeze’ 😉 brilliant! My 5th year of doing this race, wouldn’t miss it. You don’t get bling, though they are talking of doing it next year but you do get a technical t-shirt that fits as they put stickers on your number to correspond with your size choice. Simple yet effective. They do a 1 mile and 2.5k fun run for kids which was great to see, especially some little ones with their Scarborough AC club vests!
No 10k PB for me at the YC10k (course PB though!) I was hoping for under 1:05 and got 1:05:01, despite doing my own version of a sprint finish! Gutted…” (Ali Virgo)
