Results for the Derby Ramathon Half Marathon – 5.6.16

This year the route included a new city centre section, runners left the iPro Stadium and ran into the city centre, through Market Place and past the cathedral before heading back along London Road just after mile 7 runners headed towards Elvaston Castle Country Park and then started the run back along the River Derwent through Alvaston Park and back to the Stadium.  A really hot hot hot day but good running from the 3 Massey Runners.

Results for the Rhein Ruhr Marathon & Half Marathon, Germany – 5.6.16

Duisburg 2

The Rhein-Ruhr Marathon, is one of Germany’s oldest urban marathons. It first took place in 1981. The route is made up of one full circuit. Runners started from the Kruppstrasse in the Sportpark Wedau from there the race took runners through Neudorf towards the city centre. Here the half-marathon course took runners in a southerly direction towards the Dellviertel, while the full marathon course directs them towards the Inner Harbour and then through Kasslerfeld and Ruhrort.

After a short run through Meiderich the race continues over the Friedrich-Ebert-Bridge onto the left bank of the Rhein. From Alt-Homberg the route turned South and took runners back over the Rhein into Hochfeld, where at the 28 km mark, it connects back with the half-marathon course heading in from the North. The course then leads runners on to the finish in the MSV-Arena.  Read Dave Phillip’s race report here

Results for the Ragley Off Road 10k – 5.6.16

4 Massey Runners tackled the Ragley Off Road 10k Run, which was set within the grounds of the spectacular Ragley Hall, the location was also playing host to the Avenger Triathlon.  The 10km route consisted of two 5kms lap through the grounds of Ragley Hall, and was almost entirely off road through gardens, stables, fields and woodland tracks. It was a tough course with several hills in the woods and energy sapping gravel paths, but with great panoramic views.

Results for the St Ives Bay 10k – 31.5.16

Starting on the beach at the west end of Hayle, Cornwall, just below the “bluff” This off road 10k runs the complete length of the beach before turning inland and tackling the sand dunes of Hayle Towans. It boasts beautiful scenery whilst the route followed long trodden paths and eventually runners were faced with “the dune”. A steep, long sand dune that you have to climb but you were rewarded at the top with the most magnificent views overlooking St Ives bay as the sun starts to set.
