Race Report by Dave Phillips
Well it all started on Saturday evening at the Quiz Night at the Massey Social Club where c100 turned up for “Spectacular”. Huge thanks to Jenna Pogue and Kelvin for organising it on behalf of London Marathon Team Phillips running in the Daily Telegraph’s team for the Brain and Spine Foundation charity.
Plus huge thanks to Daniel Connolly as Quizmaster Extraordinaire-great job done. We raised £871 for the charity which together with the £250 I was sent on Saturday means that my Target 1 of raising £100,000 for the charity has been achieved so massive thanks to all who have helped and contributed over the many years. Target 2 is 500 marathons so 25 to go and Stratford upon Avon in April 2019 is the date in mind!
Then the real cracker was the Regency 10k in Leamington today Sunday where >2,000 runners took part. As usual Massey outscored all other running clubs in terms of competitors so well done everyone. Plus congratulations to the organisers for a superb event. A tough 1st half on and off road with hills a plenty and no traffic. Then the 2nd half was at least flat as we waddled along the river bank paths, through parks and again all traffic free. Then at the finish the usual goodie bag with T Shirt, medal and goodies and with the 0900 hrs start it was back home early for a day’s gardening when the spuds when planted.
Then to finish it all off I heard a news flash that the Sky blues beat Oxford in the cup final so well done to all those City supporters who went down there. A day well spent. As I drove into Leamington at 0800 hrs this morning I passed the station and there outside was the largest market stall selling everything Sky Blue. The Leam train passes Wembley Stadium and stops at Wembley station so I bet he did a roaring trade selling all his Sky Blue memorabilia.
So nothing more to say except a great w/e. See you Wed for the h/cap.
All Regency times will appear somewhere else but I did 72 mins-again in no rush in such a nice place!
