Run in the Forest 5 miles – 9.4.17

Race Report by Sally Slevin

Today I ran a 5mile race at Conkers the lovely Cal Oddy took me.  I thought with it being around tracks in the forest it would be fairly flat, but I was wrong . it was more hillier than the two castles and of course extremely hot. Cal and I put lots of sun creme on and we were very glad as my face is still burning.

Cal won the over 65 ladies and surprise, surprise I won the over 75 ladies. We were both given an envelope and in the envelopes were a £10 note, both very delighted. Cal did an excellent time of 57 minutes considering it was so very hill but she enjoyed it and would run the race again, as for me I will have to wait for the results to find my time. No excuses but I lost some time as I had a toilet break and then a doggy break, as there was a couple with 5 dogs and none on leads. although they were friendly the were running all around me and I had to stop until the couple called them away. Further on a lovely horse appeared from the bushes but I think I frightened him off he ran back into the bushes . all in all it was a new experience and would probable go back again.

Thank you Cal for taking me and well done xxxx
