Race report by Dave Phillips.
Not too much you can say about a 5k in Leamington but it was the 2nd event in the WRRL 2017 series so we had to do it. Plus it’s a welcome Sunday break from 7 marathons in 7 weeks which is the current timetable (plus the few evening races coming up here and there).
What I will say is that today’s event came out at the very top for the 2 lap off road race (but on paths, trails and pavements etc.. friendly ) because of its friendliness, superb marshals encouraging you at every turn, lovely course following both sides of the river Leam in places and the great start and finish on the track.
Plus the real friendliness amongst the runners( before and after the run) who were all from local clubs and of course Massey had around 20 so the red and whites were everywhere-most in front of me.
Then at the finish all the runners were talking and joking with each other over coffee and cakes so what a better way to spend part of a Sunday morning?
So well done Leamington C&AC for hosting a superb friendly and competitive event.
