Ilmington 10k- 22.10.23

Race Report by Dave Phillips

Well here we go again for the series of 5 races at Ilmington all put on by superbly Sarah and Rob from Tempo Events. Yesterday was the 1st race in the series and was absolutely full in advance that quite a few people who thought they could enter on the day were very disappointed and just did not take part. If anyone wants to do any of the next 4 events go to the Tempo Events web site and book in ASAP.

I started on my own yesterday (as I did last year) before the main group started so I was “on my own and in the lead for nearly 6k!!!!).

Yesterday the run was anti clockwise and at 4k was the top of the hill and the highest place in Warwickshire. The 360 degrees views were spectacular with many counties all in view but it was really hard work getting to the top with a few cars and horse riders overtaking me-but of course no runners yet!

Then at the top it is downhill to the 6k mark and back in the village so almost quite easy jogging down. Then the leader sprinted past me followed by loads of others all the time. Then at 8k we were back in Ilmington village with the final 2k in and around the lovely quiet roads until the final bend and the finish area on the sports field was in sight (but uphill of course).

Then at the finish everyone had the usual packet of sausages but as I had sponsored the whole series I had more than one pack so thanks Sarah and Rob. Loads more to follow after the next 4 runs (I hope!!).

Massey had the best turnout since the event started several years ago so let’s have many a few more Red and Whites so please check out the next event and enter ASAP if there are any places left.

I’m looking forward to the next race in the clockwise direction on 19/11/23 so all others enter NOW.
