Race Report by Dave Phillips
Another great day out in the hills and 155 runners took part going off in groups of about 5 between 0900 and 1200 hrs. at 5 minute intervals.
This was the 4th race in the Winter series of 5.
My group of 2 started at 1030 ish so there were lots of runners in front and behind me. I overtook no one but quite a few did jog past me many of whom I knew.
As usual in this series the course was anti-clockwise so it was mostly all uphill to 4k and what a killer that was. Super weather and at the top a few runners stopped to photograph the stunning 360 degree views over the many counties and I was in some of their photos!
Then all downhill ‘till 6k when we were back in Ilmington but the last part of the run is all up and down so still nothing too easy.
As usual at the finish there were sausages for every runner (we are having these for Sunday supper tonight) and the usual cake and coffee stall.
Just checked the results and I got 2 1st places and 1 2nd .
1st Massey runner (only one there!).
2nd in my age group.
1st in the “oldest aged runner” in the event. Hmmm.
So another great day and well done again Rob and Sarah of Tempo Events. Look at their website to see the other races they are organising.
The final race in the series is 23rd May when we collect our Hoodies.
Race result:
Dave Phillips 1.28 (152nd).
