Centurion Grand Prix Series 5 miler – 2.12.18

Race Report by Dave Phillips

Well Chelmsley Wood does have some nice off road, woodland, lake and river places and today’s run for the 106 (see results) of us took place in such an area.

This was the 2nd in the 6 race series and all in all it was great fun, very friendly with lots of local runners and a nice flat course for 2 and a half laps of the parkland area around the lake and river.

It was one short and two full laps and it was not too long that the top runners were passing me on their last lap and I still had one+ to go.

Plenty of locals dog walking and at one stage I was accompanied by about 60 ducks, moorhens, coots, swans and geese all waddling along with me and trying to keep up and grab any food. Great fun.

The last lap was lonely especially as at the start of it I went through the finish area only to be ushered back onto the path with one lap to go. No quick finish there for me then. I did try to catch the lady in front (Massey’s Diana Wilson) but she would have none of it.

So all in all a good day out-race 3 in the series is 6/1/19.

Massey results:

61 Paul Curtis 42.15

66 Cathy Keay 43.02

71 Nikki Carter 43.32

89 Sonia Karamat 47.05

105 Diana Wilson 58.00

106 Dave Phillips 64.27 (oh those 37 minute days!).
