Arden 9 – 16.6.19

Race report by David Phillips.

Well done Knowle & Dorridge RC for this super event. The HQ is fabulous, parking great all around and the facilities lacked nothing.

The course is also just as good taking us through lovely countryside along fairly traffic free roads and lanes and through nice villages. It wasn’t ‘till 8+ miles that we passed a semi-detached house! The route was lined with mansions, halls, £1/£2m + detached old historic houses (most with cars with personalised number plates-not for me though), nice pubs, rivers, flooded fords so all in all it was great. Then at around 7 we ran round the edge of the golf course and lake lined with fishermen with the longest rods ever seen. Plus more equipment than could possibly be necessary to catch fish-which I don’t think any of them had actually done!

So the final bit was again just like a nature trail with wild life a plenty then at 8 it was a long slog up the hill through Hampton and back to the sports fields for one lap to the finish.

Loads of Massey applause and the T shirt for everyone. They only had S/M/L and no extra L but the L is so small goodness knows what the S and M are like. At least the cake tent had very L pieces of cake that went down very well.

So an enjoyable day out in super countryside so it’s a must next year.
